Born: 19 June 1952, Bowling Green, Kentucky, USA, as William Homer Pope.

Education: High School [John Carpenter and Tommy Lee Wallace were his classmates]; University of Virginia [Architecture]; Southwestern University [Law]; New York University [NYU] [MA Fine Arts; he ph Barry Sonnenfeld's thesis film].

Career: In Jr. High he joined Bennie Beaches band Livin' End, and continued to play guitar for them until he left Bowling Green to study architecture.
