Born: 1957, Chicago, Ill., USA, to parents newly emigrated from Ireland.
Education: Columbia College, Chicago [2-year film course; BA in 1979].
Career: Went to Offaly, Ireland, when he was almost 13 and finished high school there. Went back to the USA and became freelance still ph for newspapers and magazines. After his study at Columbia College, he became news cameraman for a Rockford tv-station. Returned to Chicago and worked as grip, electrician and c.asst. Went to Ireland in 1980 and worked at the Windmill Lanes Studios where he met dir Meiert Avis and the pop group U2. He did 2nd camera on U2's music video 'New Year's Day'. He ph doc's, music videos and tours for U2. Went back to the USA in 1985 and settled in New York working for MTV.
