Born: 21 October 1941, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, Wales, UK.
Education: BBC-tv Regional Training Scheme [1963].
Career: Worked as c.asst at BBC's Ealing Studios. Became c.op working with doph Peter Sargent [1916-2001], a.o. Became cameraman on film items for 'Nationwide' [current affairs series, 1969-83], 'Tonight' [current affairs series] & 'Panorama' [current affairs doc series, 1953-present]. Became the first resident BBC-tv staff ph in the USA in 1974. Returned for a second stint in 1982. After thirty years with the BBC Film Department he went freelance in 1992.
Member of the BSC since 1999. Vice-president of the BSC and president of IMAGO [2008].
Awards: Miskolici Television Festival, Hungary, Best Cinematography Award [1988] for 'Standing Up for Joe'; BAFTA TV Award nom [1990] for 'Around the World in 80 Days' [ep 5-7].
